If you have been wondering what major U.S. cities will be in the path of totality during the 2024 solar eclipse, you’ve come to the right place.
After researching and comparing all the cities directly in the path of totality provided by NASA with the most recent U.S. Government census data, I formulated a list of the 12 largest cities (by population,) within the 13 states that will experience the April 8, 2024, total solar eclipse. I also provide the average historical temperature and weather data collected at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Major cities can offer a variety of accommodations and activities for the curious traveler requiring a buffet of selections. Each of these cities will be sponsoring memorable celebrations and festivities to make the most of their total eclipse event. Whichever type of location you prefer, it will be our last chance to experience a total solar eclipse here in the contiguous U.S. until the year 2044. So hopefully you won’t miss it. Twenty years is a long wait!
